I get this pop up, apologising that it has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Is there a patch i need to sort this?
I dont get it all the time however.
The pc was reformatted last night too.

Could be various problems
1) Old HP printer or scanner attached
2) Sasser Virus (But as you state not all the time I dont know) might be worth running a full all files virus scan if you have AV installed
If not go online to Trend , Panda Symantec maybe download Stinger off McAfee site
Have you run Windows update to get all new patches installed
