PC components from U.S.???
Does anyone here have experience of buying PC components from the U.S., e.g. CPUs?
I read about a good site called Newegg.com and I know someone in the U.S. who could ship me stuff.
I presume they'd be compatible with UK machines, but I'm wary about reliability issues in case I have to return anything.

Hello
I buy stuff from the US all the time (and for people from here occasionally!), as I work in America 2 out of 4 weeks unfortunately. I tend to buy from an American superstore (Frys www.outpost.com) when they have stupid deals: 250gb hard drive for £50 last week for example.
In general things will work, you just have to be careful of anything that requires to be plugged in (printers etc..) and the voltage is different and they don't all have a 100V-240V power supply.
Certainly CPU's and Motherboards are fine.
Steve.

Don't forget that you'll more than likely have to pay import duties/vat if the customs have a peek inside your parcel.
I received some vitamins from the USA yesterday to a value of £102 and had to pay a total of £21.35 in duty + post office charges.
If the goods appear to be second hand, you'll pay nothing.
