The smell of burning. Need new mobo n chip
Hi peeps,
I just got post codes on my Athlon 1 Gig with Asus KT& mobo. So I stripped it down to basics, ie mobo, cpu, ram and video card. Still posted. So I reseated the cpu, but not correctly. The smell of burning silicon
and it made a dual tone noise so I pulled the lead asap. However, after re seating cpu etc, it seems to boot up, although I get no monitor display even after changing the card (the cd rom spins up etc)
I *think* its FUBAR'd but not sure. Anyone know of anywhere, except ebay I can get a mobo/cpu that takes PC100 ram cheapish, even a duron would do as this pc is only for website mockup/testing ?
