Time to upgrade my ibook hard disk
I have an ibook G3 twin usb model with a 40GB HDD. I want to upgrade the HDD to something larger. I have done plenty of reading up and it seems to be possible as long as the HDD is no taller than 9.5mm. I have been looking at a Toshiba 2.5" drive of 100GB. Has anyone done this sort of thing before? Any advice would be appreciated.

Upgraded the HD on my old "toilet seat" iBook. You pretty much have to dismantle the entire thing. Height limit back then was 8.5mm IIRC.
I'd suggest covering your work area with a large sheet of white paper. Divide it up into numbered squares. Then as you do the stages of dismantling, put the part and the screws into an area. "Refitting is reverse of removal"
Apart from that, there's not much to go wrong. Just take your time and don't force things.

I upgraded both the powerbook G4's here from their tiny little 20GB drives to 80GB drives. Apart from the aforementioned disassembly required, it's a doddle.
Seem to recall we have IBM Travelstar drives in them, if that helps any.

Cheers. There is a good step-by-step guide on the net I have found so I think I will give it a go. Last laptop I took apart was a Dell and I still have two screws left over from that
