CD/MP3/WMA jukebox PC for living room ?
Hi All,
I'm looking for a PC that can simply display on screen a list of tracks and play them. The PC doesn't need to do anything else other than output music to my amp (via digital coax or optical), i.e. no need to play DVDs, record TV etc. Prefer something that fits in with my other AV gear. Needs to be able to hold about 500 CDs worth of music.
Anybody know of off the shelf solutions ?
Cheers
Ian

Xbox + Chip + XMBC
A tad noisy - but you should be able to turn the fan down with one of the custom BIOS. Std Disk has about 4/5gGb free ( I forget exactly) if thats not enough add a bigger IDE disk or easier - just network to your main PC.
My xbox outputs via Digital to my amp with an advnaced AV connection thing that cost about £8 or so.

Had considered something like that, but wouldn't really fit in with the decor (according to the missus ). I was thinking something that looked a little more HiFi, if that makes any sense ?

I understand. The best that can be said of the xbox is thats it black and reasonably descreet. Small it isnt though.
Most Hi-Fi style PC cases though cost as much as an xbox before you start adding the PC bits. - Have you considered a Slimp3 or the like ?. Would need a server with the MP3 elsewhere, and dont get the TV Menu but....
