One for Jack? - McAfee and Java ide
Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same weird problem that I'm having with the McAfee 8 privacy service.
I've just installed a Java ide on my machine (Intellij Idea) at home so I can do some work at home in the evenings, but have hit a snag. When I start the IDE, the whole machine grinds almost to a halt.
Looking at the processes running, the culprit is the McAfee privacy service (GuardDog.exe) which is using 95-100% of the processor usage. If I shut down the privacy service before I start the IDE, then it all works fine. However if I shut down the IDE GuardDog.exe continues to use 100% processor usage until I close it down and start it again.
Any ideas?
Btw, Currently running XP SP1 on a P4 2.5Mhz with 1.5Gb of ram and about 200Gb of free space on the hard drive...

Sorry Iain, no idea. Privacy service is the bain of my life at the moment. The version you have there contains very old technology - Guard Dog especially - do you know the version of Privacy Service? Currently we have version 4 and version 6 out there and Version 7 is what I'm trying to test when I'm not on Scoobynet. Give the guys over at Support a go www.mcafeehelp.com, if they're no good come back to me and I'll escalate it for you.
