Dodgy Characters
No, not on TV, on a PC
Trying to find info on the web regarding single characters not appearing correctly is like the proverbial needle in haystack, so I thought I'd ask the experts
I have a batch file in my possession, written on a French WinXP machine, that when opened in notepad, contains a batch command to run an exe, i.e.
myexe -b "some file"
However, when you look in DOS, the hyphen character appears as û and the quote appears as ö, i.e.
myexe ûb ösome fileö
I assumed this was down to some windows keyboard mapping issue, but having (seemingly) changed my locale and keyboard settings to French, I can't reproduce this issue. Anyone got any ideas?
I believe that the batch file was originally written in Notepad on the French PC.
