Help installing WinXP on Mirrors
Help
Total story of wo...
upgrades MOBO to GA-7NNXP with xp2800 - see other thread - does seem to run hot but I;m on top of that.
Anyway - got a maxtor 160Gb SATA drive on the Sil3112 raid controller - installed winxp - works fine until BSOD after upgrade of adio drivers - thats another story.
Anyways - as the controller supports RAID 0 and 1 - I get another driver and opt for a mirrored approach - go into bios and set up raid set 0 with the 2 drives to run mirrored.
Load up winxp and add the raid driver from FD, all the files copy and the installation reboots to go into gui mode.
Then I get the message:
I looked it up on msdn and it tells me to correct boot.ini ? fine not a problem - but what do I update it to ?
Anyone any experience of installing winxp to a mirror set ?
Should I install to a single disk then setup the raid array in the bios ?
Puzzled.

I suspect you destroyed your windows installation when you chose RAID 0 which is striping. You should have gone with RAID 1 for a disk mirror.
This page tells you what the various RAID Levels are http://www.logitel.co.uk/raid.htm.
You are trying to implement a hardware RAID solution so install both disks, configure the array as Raid 1, then install the OS.
Cheers.

Cheers - when I said raid set 0 - I mean logical raid drive 1 - which was actually raid 1 i.e. mirror.
If only it were as simple as my DL380 with Raid 5 !
