Wav Volume?

Wav Volume?
I have downloaded some wav files to my iPaq to replace the stock warnings for the Speed camera database. Problem is that they are significantly quieter than the TomTom voice instruction. Is there a way of upping the volume of the file to match or exceed the voice instruction?

Aye, if you are running Windows, then run the Sound Recorder prog. Mines under Start->Programs->Accessories->Entertainment.
Load the Wav file into that, select the Effects menu and then increase volume by 25%, save the file.
If you get a proper wave editor then you should be able to do it in that, but this might be sufficient for you.

or any audio program (Sound Forge eg) - you're after the "Normalise" function.
It takes the whole file, finds the peaks, and takes them up to full volume (0dB - digital)
Most other ways are classed as gain control - which can distort the files
If you want, I'll normalise them for you..... email's in my profile
