Do you mean internal or external?

Lacie are the usual external favourites, and the quality of the drives are excellent. I believe there is a 16x out now as well. Then there is formac who have the devidion drives. There are a few more but I would stick with one of these two.

If you mean internal, I think pretty much any will go in. I think Markus knows for sure so maybe best to see if there is a reply from him.

Sorry - I've actually had to do some work today!

Yes - an internal one. For use with DVD Studio Pro 3.
Got a Mirror-door G4.

Best stick with LaCie or the Formac Divideon. LaCie will be 1-2 weeks , Formac a bit quicker.

if I had to choose I'd stick with Formac.

You really need to get the right drive for this type mac.and i dont mean the write kind of drive as in DVD-R orDVD+R, i mean the right size of drice, because through painful experience the mirror door g4 has 2 optical slots with shaped internal hinges. These internal hinges and walls are the problem. They are curved in such a way that they impede normal full sized trays. The actual DVD drive will fit but when you press eject, the tray will catch on the grey curved walls of the door.
If you have a look at the drive in there now, you will see it is slightly narrower than normal drives.
I am in the middle of trying to source the right DVD drive for the mirror G4, so whne i do i will let you know.In the meantime if you find one before me.LET ME KNOW...

I used a Pioneer DVR-106/A06 in my G4 AGP machine. It was a straight swap for the CD-ROM. Its the OEM version of the Mac Superdrive, so it's recognized natively under OS 10.2.8 an upwards.

It was a 15 min job, and has given me no problems at all. For compatibilty information you should check out http://www.xlr8yourmac.com. That's where I got all my info from.
