Depends what you're doing. If you're just web browsing then probably not much difference, but if yer downloading large files, then it makes a big difference....

Well I personally think you'd be just as well off with a lower ration 512mb connection as you woudl with a high ratio 1mg line. I used to use blueyonder, and I had 512m, then upgraded to 1mb, obviously the latter was much faster, but it still does depend on the traffic in your local exchange and on the whole network, not to mention the server you're connected to. I have gone back to 512m now, and I do find, generally the net is slower now, and I put this down to more people in my area having BB, and this the local exchange being more busy.
I am using www.freedom2surf.com, and have had no problems it's £22 a month for 512mb and the beauty is it's a montly invoice, not a yearly contract.
£19.15 D:512k U:256k Ratio: 50:1
£34.99 D:512k U:256k 20:1
£29.99 D: 1024k U: 256k 50:1
£42.54 D:1024k U:256k 20:1
Been pondering an upgrade, but not sure whether to go for more speed or better ratio or both

I've been running with a 1mb from Nildram. Love the speed and certainly worth it if you do a lot of newsgroup downloading (films, games, MP3's, etc).
btw - I use www.newshosting.com for my newsgroup access. Great fast service and excellent retention.

Thanks to competition in the domestic market in Holland, prices keep on falling on a regular basis. Even for an internet junkie like me, 1mb was plenty so I declined the possibility of getting 2mb for the same price and downgraded instead to keep 1mb down and 380kb up for the same reasonable price of about 20 quid a month.
512kb down would be slightly too slow IMHO.

I am thinking of upgrading to broadband. I would of been happy with the 512kbps, but after looking at the Wanndo web site ther deals seem to good.
17.99/month 1mb 2gb limit per month
22.99/month 1mb 6gb limit per month
What do people think of the above? to good to be true?

I have beeen on NTL BB for 4 years now on a 512 connection, fast as ****, tried 1mb but changed back after the first month as it wasn't worth the extra ££££'s 19.99 per month with no limits
