Windows 2000 server startup problem
OK I have a 2000 server that is driving me crazy, all of a sudden it takes ages to start up, giving multiple service errors, corrupted WINS, etc, etc. Eventually sitting at a service error that doesn't allow you to click the ok. It had no critical updates on it, which have not been installed (not my fault). It all started a couple of weeks ago when someone noticed it was polling many **** sites, etc.
It will only boot successfully in safe mode. Next thing I'm going to try is the 2000 cd boot recovery method, but to be honest i'm not too hopeful of.
any pointers would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

Obv dont know how your network setup is configured.
Sounds like a good run with ad-aware, spy bot destroyer and a good AV scan might help to start with.
Followed by all updates.
Something looks like its grabbing resources.

spyware deffo - GET SOME PATCHES!!!!! unpatched stuff like this just adds to spam probs (a spammer will exploit your machine to send out spams - when the ISPs find out, guess whos plug is gonna get pulled...)
If you have an IT person looking after this machine fire them and save the minimum wage that theyre not even worth!!! GRRRR!
