Port configuration for Kazaa Lite etc
Hello all
Can someone tell me (or point me to a website which explains) in detail EXACTLY which ports I open in which way, local or remote and TCP/UDP in order to use Kazaa Lite please? I am using Nortons Internet Security 2003 as my firewall.
I would also greatly appreciate the same info for any bit torrent program (especially ABC or Azereus)
Thanks for any help

Now if you can tell me which ports to open which way etc for "shareaza" we'd be on the right track

Don't use norton but if that's the only firewall you got and its similar to other software firewalls, don't u just allow access when u start up the filesharing program?
Open ports, port forwarding etc is what u have to do if you're using a router to access the net.

Im under the impression that if you just "allow access" without configuring you open ALL ports in both directions which isn't a good idea.
Id be happy to be corrected though

Usually u specify ports to use in the p2p program, one tcp and one udp, so u can change them if for example another program is using them or your isp blocks common file shareing ports.
I'm not familiar with norton internet security, but when u first run a program doesn't it pop up asking if you wish to allow whatever program access to the internet and in p2p progs case act as a server?
This should only open the specified ports when the p2p program is running.
Otherwise just run the p2p prog find out the udp and tcp port being used and open them in the firewall settings.
And yes it would be both incomming and outgoing traffic.
