USA Mains Voltage difference!??

If I were to buy an American spec product that (works off the mains) for the computer could I just use a simple plug converter or would the voltage difference (what is the difference by the way?) cripple it?

about 120v-ish 60Hz

You need a step down transformer if the psu is not auto swtiching or have a manual voltage selection on.
