Hard disk upgrade for Sky+
FYI really, I've recently had a hard disk failure on my Sky+ box, which Sky refused to repair as it's 3 weeks outside the 12 month warranty. Obviously they are not aware of the Sale of Goods Act 1979.
Rather than wait for the outcome of my complaint to Sky, I bought a Maxtor 80gb drive for £40, from CCL computers. Fitted the drive in less than 15 minutes, turned Sky+ back on and it works again!
I now have 40hours of storage and the new drive runs much cooler than the original 40gb one, so should last longer. The only downside is that the % remaining information doesn't work correctly, but a small price to pay IMO.

I did try to move the thread, once I realised it was in the wrong place. Is it possible to change the thread to another section?

When my sky + mk 1 died i bought a new one and the buggers from Sky took the old one away !! and said they have to do that !!!
As i was going to stick a 160gig in the ole gal
