TomTom 3 bummer:(
Was very excited to finally get my TomTom3 upgrade- thought it would be great to get the new traffic info to find out where I was going to get stuck-
Finally got it to work via bluetooth with my mobile today, it updated its traffic info and all seems fine.
However, when i take it to the car and plug it in, no traffic updates
It suddenly dawned on me that the car kit is bluetooth too, and bluetooth can't communicate with two devices at once.
When i turn the ignition on, the carkit grabs the bluetooth and the Ipaq can't communicate with the phone
Can't find another option now apart from to have a second mobile in the car that is only paired with the Ipaq, or get a wired car kit (which i really don't want to do)
what a bummer

I thought there was a way around this, but I can't remember it. I have the BT GPS but no BT phone, so I don't use Traffic anyway.
You should ask the question over on the TomTom forum on PocketGPSWorld

As far as I know Bluetooth can only handle one connection at a time.
Will ask the question on the above forum though.....

Just enabled Traffic and am very impressed so far - much more info than the brick I had from Traffic master.
TT make it clear that bluetooth can't be used simultaneously - so its back to the old wired headphones for hands free.
Can't say that TT3 is an improvement - I've had put on an old verison of checkpoint to get it to work with TT3 properly.

I can't turn the bloody traffic thing off! driving me up the wall, and unfortunately I have a very short attention span with fiddly tech stuff.
Does anyone know how to turn it off or un-install it?

Bluetooth is designed to work with multiple devices - prob is that not everything has it implemented
However, I'd check your setup 'cos BT in the car kit should only operate when there is a phonecall - mine does. I "think" my phone sends out a signal when it receives a call to see if there is a BT H/S (car kit) around & then whichever I select (car kit or phone) is the one that answers it. On that basis, your PDA should be able to use your phone when it has to & likewise your car kit.
Was playing about with a BT GPS receiver the other day that allows 2 or more PDAs to connect to it simmultaneously

Most bluetooth headsets only connect when they need to- stands to reason if its connected all the time the battery usage would be horrendous.
The Parrot kit I have does connect all the time though- rather than just when its needed- which also probably expalins why the battery life on my phone is so crap
