PC help required
Yesterday my PC hung so I switched it off.
Now the damn thing won't boot up.
It gets to the windows login (Win98) and two messages appear.
mmtask and msgsrv32 (the latter keeps appearing each time you click close) something about kernal and DLL. Then the monitor goes funny and says OUT OF FREQUENCY and you have to switch it off (the PC not the monitor).
How do I start to fix it if I can't even log in?!!
Cheers,
Matt

MMTASK is part of MusicMatch Jukebox that is digital music player, CD burner and ripper, music organizer, and play list creator.
MSGSRV32 is Windows Message Server, which loads Windows drivers and the Program Manager at start-up. The software runs invisibly in the background performing a variety of essential services, most of which concern on-screen messages and notifications.
Try booting into safe mode (power on, tap the F8 key once a second until a menu appears, select option 3 - Safe Mode) see if you can get to the desktop successfully (don't worry aboiut the way it looks at this point as it will be using a minimum config.)
If this is successful, try reboot and it will attempt to load normally. If you get the same error, try and record the exact error message and post it here.
