Default AVG a/v download problem

Okay why is it the more you try to solve a pc probelm the deeper you get into problems ??!!!

okay have decided to download the AVG 7 a/virus trial software available from there homepage, so okay go to press there download button and my quick time player software opens telling me that it cant d/load this software !!

so okay normally you would save the file by doing the right click / shift routine to save the file d/load to your required choice, any ideas how I would change the download method in this case ?? and to where / by what ??!!

lastly !!! regards this AVG software, certainly comes highly recommended, so anyone who actually uses this very one just advise me if there free dload / unlimited use version is good enough for most w98 broadband connections for every day general pc use ??

cheers,
john

AVG is good, the only problem I found when I installed it on my sister's machine was that the auto updates had a tendancy not to work. This was on XP. I changed her over to Avast 4 Home Edition. This is also free and is just as effective and I haven't had any problems with the auto updates. All I think you have to do is to re-register after 18 months to ensure you keep receiving the updates.

Thumbs up

I use AVG and found that with AOL as my service provider even the manual updates would not work.

By resetting IE as the default browser they now work fine (on ME and XP Pro!)

I used AVG in a corporate environment a year ago, and it was pants.

It used to bomb out on updates, be unable to disinfect virus, and generally be a pain the ****.

I now use Norton Corporate Edition. (Not had any probs - touch wood)

AVG has a good engine and it's great that they give it away for free. But, they are not set up to deal with corporate clients. Perhaps in a few years and with financial input they could manage it, but free product costs money.
