Sidewinder Wheel and Pedals
Thinking of getting a cheap MS Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel and Pedals off e-bay.
Anybody used one, and are they any good??
Don't want to be spending £70+ on the latest stuff that's got a Ferrari badge on it.
I see there are gameport and USB ones. Will it really matter which one I get?? I know USB is plug and play, but not sure about the gameport (???).
Cheers,
Andy.

Make sure your PC has a gameport if you go that route! It usually will have if you've got a seperate soundcard but may not have if you've got on board sound

They are fab because they use optical sensors rather than potentiometers that wear out and go 'spikey' after lots of use. I've had mine for, erm, about 3 years I think and it's still going strong ! I thought MS had stopped making them tho ?

I did used to have a joystick that wasn't USB, used a black connector with about 15 pins in it. Would that have plugged into a gameport??
You can tell I know LOADS about computer stuff can't you??
Cheers,
Andy.

If you've used a joystick with your current PC with that connector then you should be fine. I'd prolly still go for a USB one though as they were the last ones MS built so it'll be newer (if you're buying second hand). Also at least you'll be a bit more future proofed if you upgrade your pc.
