Graphics Card Advice
Hi,
I'm building a PC for a mate. He is on quite a tight budget but wants a graphics card that will be good enough to play things like Battlefield 1942.
Can anyone recommend a half decent graphics card that will up to the job? Preferably AGP 8x / 8x Pro
I'd like to go down the Ati route with him as I tend to prefer these over Nvidia but open to any suggestions.
Thanks
Marc

Hi,
Well for Battlefield you wont need anything really leading edge, a good compromise which will also run recent things well would be a card based around the Radeon 9800 Pro core like this:
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=56700
Or if you can find one, a 9700 pro which is more or less the same and on battlefield will give similar performance.
But if he's thinking of playing some serious stuff in the future then wait a bit for the new generation of cards to come out and snap up a cheap 9800XT as they'll be coming down quite a bit.
You could get the non pro version of the 9800 too but performance starts to drop off quite a bit and you wont save much money.
