New Grafix Card................9800 Pro ?
ok i've seen the new stuff on the horizon....
the Ati X800 and Nvidias 6800 series...
look the dogz danglies and the next gen of cards but at £300-£400 they are out of my price range...
currently i am running a 128mb 9500 Pro.
now i see that the older 9800 Pro's have come down substantially in price recently.
infact i've seen one card currently on offer for 133 incl ! which seems bloomin cheap for wot is still surely a high end grafix card....
anyone comment on the sort of gains i'll get from upgrading now ? anyone upgraded recently in a similar position ?
recently got painkiller and i am getting under 20fps at times set to 1024*768 with everything maxed out so was wondering about doing the upgrade....
also i play a lot of MTW : VI and i've been getting real slowdowns recently when doing large battles.
cheers
the 9500 would go nicely into my 2nd pc so would not be wasted.

You should see an improvement in performance as the 9800 has twice the texture pipelines and is more geared to DX9. However, the 9500 is still a decent card and overclocks pretty nicely with Radclocker.
Don't forget that a lot of slow down in games can be cured by adding more RAM : I know for a fact that BF1942 and BFV responded much more to an extra 512Mb of RAM than it did from switching my gfx card from a GF3 to a Raddy 9600 Pro

X800s are much cheaper than the FX6800s, and only slightly worse in performance (and then not always!).
Cheapest I saw was £213 on a buy it now auction on ebay, but it's gone now.
However, at £135ish for a 9800 Pro, it's an absolute bargain. There is NO FX card that can match it of the 58 or 59 series, and they are still selling for £200+
