Default How do I get rid of a Virus in the SVI folder ?

Hi all,

I keep getting a message to say that I need to run the AntiVirus to get rid of a virus in the System Volume Information folder. You can't view this folder as even an administrator doesn't have permission, so how do you get rid of this virus ?

I'm running AVG but McAfee couldn't get rid of it either.

And what is the SVI folder for ?

Cheers

The System volume folder is where XP stores its restore files. To delete the files and kill the virus do the following.

Disable the system restore function and reboot the PC. This will delete all restore points and you should be ok.

As an addendum: You should always turn off 'System Restore' before attempting to remove a virus. No anti-virus application or removal tool can gain access to this directory.
