CD writer won't work....

Default CD writer won't work....
According to the device manager it's working properly but when it asks for a blank cd it won't recognise it

Tried another brand of CDR? Will it format the CD? Will it burn to it in a burning app, like Nero? Does it read normal CDs ? Make/Model/OS?

How do you format a cd?
It won't burn using Nero or direct from the pc (win XP pro).
It reads normal cd's no problem.

Sounds like your burner doesnt like the CDR brand, try another n get back to us.

Or try flashing the firmware of the burner from the manufacturers website, then it might work with the CDR u are trying to use.

Tried different types of cdr to no avail.
I'll try the second bit
