Default Max partition size

Hi Everybody!

I read with interest a recent article in a computer mag that with windows ME you could not have a partition bigger than about 32gig....

........particularly since I have a 120gig drive with only one parition on it and am running ME.

However, for months I have been trying to find the cause of the dreadful instability that this PC suffers from particularly when running games.

Could this be the casue of the instability. I am reluctant to yet again reformat (this time with smaller partitions), and reinstall windows unless this will do the trick.

Thoughts anyone?

Its more likely to be a gfx, RAM or software/driver problem.

Are you sure u can see all of that 120gb drive in ME?

When I initially formatted the drive it said ( before it started) that it was aboutu 62gig. But at the end 117 so thats about right.

Anyway, since I now know I shouldn't have done this, I have just re partitioned the disk to 4 by 30 gig.

I'll give it a good bashing over the weekend and see if its any more stable.

Cheers

Hi Everybody!

For anyone who is now interested. I now have a 120gig drive split into four 30gig partitions.

I have a fresh install of windows ME on one of these and its been rock steady now for almost a week. Not had to reboot and I,ve run loads of games and apps no problem.

And before anyone says this is a coincidence this is about the 4th or 5th windows reinstall I tried to improve stability and this is the only one that worked.

I'm just glad I now have a stable machine.

Cheers

I'd have replaced ME as well as its not noted for its stability.

Yep as above get rid of it - there's no reason to be running it any more.. bit like still watching a black-and-white TV..
