Question Upping my pc's performance

Ive just got Far Cry ,wow.
Fantastic game.

Whats bothering me is my graphics arent up to scratch really, and im only running low to medium in the settings and id love to max and reap the benefits.

The spec of my machine is as follows:

Asus A7NX8 Deluxe
AMD 3200+(@2.2ghz)
1024MB Ram(23% utilized)
120GB Hard Drive 7200rpm (partitioned 80/40)
Geforce 4200Ti 8x agp
Aluminium case (so its a bit noisy)

I guess my board and chip are up for the job but my graphics card is a bit lame.
What would anyone recommend me do and change?
I dont mind buying a new board and chip but if i dont need it?
I was about to get another gig of ram too.
As you can guess im not that up on keeping upto date so any help would be fantastic
One thing i forgot to mention, ive got a 15" Advent TFT but ive got no driver for it so its only being seen as a plug and play monitor, this matter?

many, many thanks
Tony

Your motherboard & chip are perfectly fine, just spend £150ish on a Radeon 9800pro & all will be lovely

I would agree with 9800 PRO or XT if you want anti-aliasing and high res.

just spoke to them.
they recommended the 9800xt at £299
or the pro at £160.
seems a bit steep really. Id love the XT, but for the price, i dont want to pay that much and not really need it?
But he mentioned the pro might become discontinued soon.
hmmmm, choices.
anyone?

The next generation of ATi cards (Radeon X800) is due for it's official launch early May, so yes the 9800 series will start to disappear as they ship in quantity.

If you want to buy now, go for the Pro (IMHO).

The XT is basically an overclocked version of the Pro. In the next few weeks ATI and Nvidia will be releasing their new cards but they will cost an arm and a leg for sure. A 9800pro will play farcry without a problem and should be good enough for another year I imagine.
