Anyone Done A Systems Implimentation ??
We may decide to replace our Financial System (ie G/L A/R & A/P) with a new system.
Is there any recognised or helpful methodology that can guide a first time non IT (but IT aware) person such as me.
Any tips / pointers would be helpful.
The company I work for is small, so the process should be managable.

Well no hard and fast answer really, its all to do with where you are now, i.e. why are you replacing your current system, and where you want to be, what do you want the new system to do your old one doesn't, then when you have decided on a new system look at data migration issues. Just curious as to why you use 'american' terminology to refer to nominal sales and purchase ledgers (accounts payable/receivable etc)
One thing is for sure when you talk to any systems reseller they will want to sell you a bundle of consultancy time covering specification, implementation plans, training support etc, good luck!

We are implementing SAP Business One at work at the moment. Its proving to be time consuming and will replace our current systems which are an accounts package and a general package for purchase/sales/distribution of our products with SAP which is an integrated system.
As SAP is set up for the US market primarily its all in "american" terminolgy too which is taking some getting used to!
