Question Internet Explorer - Contents advisor

Everytime I fire up explorer my PC fires up an error message asking me to check my contents advisor settings? So I go to tools and content, enter my password, check a couple of boxes and its then fine until I fire it up again

Because of the above I am struggling to use WinMX for music as I get the same message, but using this program doesn't allow you to goto tools and do the above, so the serve just crashes and doesn't allow me to download?

Its annoying me now.

Anybody know what he fix is for this ???

Cheers in advance

Steve

Yes I can, but as soon as I then fire up winmx, the site won't respond due to another contents advisor mesasage.

The same happens if I think open explorer again?

Help !!!

Did this suddenly start happening for no reason, or has it always happened?

Have you got the latest version of Winmx? Also the latest IE6 fully patched?
Which settings in content advisor do you have to check to make it work? Does this happen with any other site?

You should check the Winmx support newsgroup at http://www.winmx.com/support/ as this may be a known issue.

Nick,

It just suddenly started happening. Its nothing to do with winmx, its something to do with explorer

Tools/internet options/content tab/settings/password/general then I check the two boxes at the top (I'm on windows 98 by the way)

Once I have done this my explorer works find for the duration I'm on line, but if I then try to use winmx I get the same error message, so I cannot get onto the server no matter how many tries I give it

Cheers

Hi Steve

You said that this only happens with Winmx? If so, why assume that it's IE & not a Winmx issue. 'Puters can be sneaky like that!

Check the Winmx support forum. Also have a go at running Kazaalite & see if you get the same issue.

You didn't reply which version IE you have & if it's patched.

Nick,

It happens with IE as well, as soon as I open it. I think I am on IE5 at the moment. Maybe I should try IE6 then. Having said all this though it didn't used to do it??

Steve

PS Know where I can download IE6 from ?

Steve

You can upgarde to IE6 using Windows update. I think it's worth a try.

Open IE
Tools | Windows update

What did the Winmx support forum say about this? Have you tried another peer to peer music system like Kazaa lite?
