Buy the software. This is not one of those programmes you should get for free. If you want to try it out go to www.adobe.com/login/login.jsp and download the 30 day trial.

Have you got friends that have a copy of the software?

...thats how i got mine! i was given firstly Photoshop 5 LE, then Elements, then photoshop 6 and now 7...all free of course!!!!

If you want to buy the software it is approx £500-£700, and thats a rip off.

ah well i have a copy sdo im not worried!

You can get Photoshop Elements which is a basic version of the programme from PC World for around 100 quid. This is almost as good as the Pro level version.

ive seen some interesting things on ebay, most of them advertise a copy of photoshop 7 to be used as a backup copy for a lost or damaged original. Before i bid i want your advice, it says that you should not purchase this cd unless you have lost or damaged your original copy, which happened to me . But if i do buy this will i actually be able to install all of the components that would be on the original.
Any advice would be well appreciated,
Thanks
Subsy

not unless they supply you with a serial as well, to be honest it's one package your best off buying as manuals really help, go for elements it's just a cut down ps

The Gimp is an extreemly good piece of software and in many ways better than Photoshop although harder to get the hang of.

For the price of exactly £0.00 you cant go wrong.

Photoshop is a working standard though.. what ever you work in photoshop you are guaranteed an end product what ever finishing company you work with. Well worth the money if your business depends on it. If it doesn't then go to the free downloads for Serif. The most fantstic wizard based image software available yet. http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/

Wink Go CS instead !

I paid £138 for an upgrade copy of Photoshop CS from Amazon.

It installed fine without another copy of Photoshop installed to upgrade from.

CS requires an authorization from Adobe to enable it - a bit like XP does.

Photoshop takes a while to get the hang of - as all powerful software does. But it is the standard, so IMHO, it is worth the effort of learning.
