Default New self build PC - recommendations

Hello !

I am looking to build a new PC. I dont do PC gaming, or required surround sound or a TV card, I dont want masses of internal storage, as I want to use an external HDD for music and software archives, and require the following interfaces:

USB2.0
LAN
Firewire

I also want a DVD burner, and a gig of memory.

I have a load of bits and pieces already, like CD drives, network cards, etc but ideally i want the motherboard to do as much as possible, so a small case would be required.

I could go shopping on Ebuyer, but I would be guessing the best components to get.

Anyone got any recommentations, especially for the mobo ?

Dave

If its the AMD route - go for the top of the range PC chips 848 m/board with 400 mhz bus - gigabit lan, USB2 x 6, 6 channel sound, micro atx size, and support upto a 3.4 ghz processor.

Comes with full version of PC-Cillin anti virus.

And wait for it - £22 + vat

I have eight machines running this board - all running perfectly with 2500XP processors and 512 of DDR 333, so no reliability probs. Plus they have the same warranty as every other manufacturer. I personally use asus at home, but at 3 to 4 times the price why bother now that these are available.

Why not get a shuttle. Ebuyer were knocking out the SK43 for £130 inc.
