Angry Problems ordering from Dell

<rant>
The service from my account manager this week has been atrocious. Quotes not appearing when they were promised, unreplied emails and phone calls. It may only be an order for a handful of PCs but it's a sure fire way of pi$$ing me off.
</rant>
Anyone else having problems? What other brands do you guys 'n' gals favour?
HP, IBM, Acer perhaps?

Somewhat frustrated at not being able to spend my boss's money

Yeah. I hate them as well but I still go back to them.

<rant>
My brother and I ordered two laptops a few years ago with a combined cost of about 6k and our AM was the pits. Not only did she make errors when taking down the order but she then went on holiday for a a few weeks and didnt pass our orders onto anyone so everytime we called to find out why our laptops were late, we'd just get voice mail.

I've just ordered a new TFT monitor from them with an expected delivery date of today. Lo and behold its not shipped yet, so I call up and speak to their Indian call center... "The expected delivery date is today, but it hasnt shipped so you have to wait 3-5 days for delivery" Im told... "What happens if it doesnt show up then" I ask, only for call center person to repeat the first line... I ended up saying "f**k it I'll have to wait" and slammed the phone down but its just a friggin monitor! Do they have to build it ? Is there any stock in the country? What happens if I dont get it next week? Companies like this f**king take the p**s and it boils my blood that they cut the pennies by setting up the call center in a place that doesnt employ Brits, nor speak our language very well. But, I want the TFT and cant find one the same anywhere else so I'm stuck
</rant>

I think you'll be in the same boat with most large companies mate, they really really dont give a frig about the little people. If you had an order in for 1000 units then I'd bet they'd be on the bl**dy phone!

My AM is usually on the ball though. We've had most of our PCs in recent years from DELL and TBH have no real complaints. Just seems this week she can't be arsed

Nope, she phoned me Wednesday (could've been from the beach I guess ), promised me the known world, well, quotes for 4 PCs by close of play. Not heard a peep since.

I deal with them alot, albeit on the software side and they have some v. good account managers - but they are the large corporates so I guess thats not unusual.

Heard about internet sales being a bit patchy though..

Mine's called Karen. Decided I wanted to stick with DELL so phoned business sales this pm. The lass said she'd have to get authorisation from her team leader if she was to work on one of Karen's accounts. Was put on hold for a few mins when lo and behold it's Karen talking to me. Gives me some story about having emailed me when she said she would, yada, yada!! Any I tell what I want to order. "Sure", she says, "I have the quote faxed and emailed in a few minutes". An hour and half later I give up and go home

If you are not getting the service you require, request a new Account Manager. Its simple. Explain that you are unhappy and feel a new account manager is the way forward, don't worry if she gets up set, what is the likely hood you are every going to meet her? They are based in Ireland anyway.

Up till this week I couldn't fault my AM, damn sexy voice too Don't know what happened this week, perhaps last minute end of tax year spending sprees. I'll wait and see what happens Monday morning.

She's doing it again After completing the last order eventually (the PCs turned up surprisingly quickly though) I'm after a couple more. Emailed her Friday pm - no reply. Left a voice mail yesterday pm - no reply. This is really pi$$ing me off. Anyone got a contact number for an account manager supervisor? Time for a change methinks

Try calling 0870 907 4000. Its the main reception number then asked to be passed through to their supervisor.
