Anyone UPGRADED W2K - W2003

Ive upgraded member servers with no probs, if upgrading DCs then you have to update the schema to a 2003 one. (even if you are continuing to run in 2k mixed/native modes)
There is something in the back of my mind that sets of a warning about upgrading to 2k3 with exch. involved, was a bstrd of a question on the msce so you may want to check that out further.

Hi PTMW,
ive just checked back over some course notes, apparently the 2k3 schema is not compatable with exch 2k. Dont take this as gospel though its only what i could work out from the text books.
This would mean your upgrade of exch should come before the domain upgrade.

Also had big problems with AD restoral on DC's that had been upgraded from W2K to 2003. If you have more than one DC then my advice is to plan on an upgrade/fresh install mix and some role shuffling.

Puff,
upgrade is NOT uncommon but I can understand everyones rationale for going with clean builds.
To address the schema issues - specifically potential incompatibility with the exchange 2000 schema version of inetorgperson and the W2003 flavour of that object check out :

And for a general overview of what you should be doing prior to upgrade:
