Did i read that someone here works for McAfee??
Having problems with installing VirusScan ASAP. The exec who uses the laptop in question is only up at head office for a few hours, and I've not had a reply from support yet.
Basically i stick the install URL in and it redirects as expected, but the installation window where you put in the email address is not popping up.
This may be related to the fact that the user cannot print anything from the internet or in HTML enabled emails (javascript dead or something???). There are no popup stoppers etc on the machine, and i've tried setting all the security and privacy stuff down to minimum.
If not, anyone else have any ideas?

The uninstall option is grey'd out. I'm leaning towards sticking SP2beta on (seems ok on my pc) and hoping it overwrites the nadgered settings/components.

All the uninstaller points to is a file that is located in the Program Folder (c:\Program Files\Mcafee etc.). It usually starts with un. have a look for the file. Have you tried the Mcafee test support?
Sorry its vague I don't have much time to reply.

I know you have already check but are you 100 % there are no pop up blockers? Google toolbar is a ******.
What about running a problem to check for pop up blockers. Adware, spy hunter?
make sure you take it back off again mind

I dont know how the installer works, if its web based or off a cd etc. Is the installer working, but the updates arent d/l'ing ? If this is the case, does the updater go out over port 80, is there a proxy in the way?

Yes i ran the cleanup util first!
Ok a bit more info.
The laptop has no security whatsoever. It is a standard install of XP Pro/ie6. I've tried setting all privacy and security to minimum. I've manually checked that the boxes specify activex and scripting to be enabled.
The laptop goes out through the firewall on the exact same policy as 99% of the users on the network. It works fine on those. I tried setting it to our "Windows Update IP", which gives it full access with no firewall privacy options/weblocker etc (i.e. the same as I have) and it still did not work.
I am sure its IE's or a windows component fault, but it doesn't reinstall IE (just says 21k to do and finishes), and uninstall for IE is disabled. It's fully Windows-Updated too.
