Unhappy Locked BIOS.....Help

I've had an issue with the kid's PC. When we switch it on all the lights on the keyboard falsh.. the PC gets into windows eventually, but the keyboard and mouse just don't work.

I've tried getting into the configuration at startup (when the keyboard does appear to work), but when we had the PC fixed a couple of years ago some bright spark appears to have put a password on getting into the BIOS settings!!

Obviously, can't now contact the company as they no longer exist

Any suggestions on how I can get round this please?

the motherboard may have a jumper to reset the BIOS which will wipe the password. Alternatively remove and replace the BIOS battery to reset.

Nige, there's usually a jumper that says "reset" or something similar, it can be a case of shorting the pins or moving the jumper from 1-2 to 2-3 or something.
You can also pop out the battery for a while and that should cause it to "lose" all it's settings making it clean for the next time.
Do you have a model # for it?

Thx for the advice lads.

Don't know the exact motherboard type, but its from a Gateway PII 233, and has a "LX System Board"

Ooops, must type faster...!

It could be jumper J8E1 but confirm the board info first....
