moving 16bit app from one pc to another without the installer cd
what do you reckon my chances are of moving a 16bit app from one Win2k PC to another ?
don't have the original install disk
copy everything in the c:\appname folder across
what else ? make a copy of the c:\windows folder ?

If it's a 16bit app you will probably find that all the files for the app are contained in one directory.Just copy the whole directory across to the new machine.Might also be worth having a look at the shortcut to launch the app to make sure there are no special parameters (Oh and look at the config.nt file in the winnt\system32 directory to make sure there's nothing defined there - You can use a standard text editor for this such as notepad)
Done this many times for my customer with their various 'odd' applications that they insist on using!!
Also, worth considering taking backups of the app if you don't already.I use pkzip on ours to compress the data and then blast the zip file onto one of our file servers...
Good luck
