Pretty much any decent CD writing software (i.e. Nero and whatever the hell EasyCD is called nowadays) will do this as an all-in-one operation

The best i've found is NEROVISION - from ahead - same as nero burning rom but dedicated to making VCD SVCD and DVD, will convert whatever you have as long as the codecs are installed. All menu and wizard based, very easy.

Quicker the processor, quicker the conversion - with 2x 2.8ghz P4's and 2gb of ram it takes about 50mins to decode a DIVX to a DVD - with a 2500AMD it takes about 3 hours.

How long would it take (roughly) to encode a .avi file to a vcd using Nero express for a 700mb file, because its taking quite a long time just to encode it!

tnx Rich

Hello

It depends on the original file, and the power of your PC.

A 700mb DivX takes up to 8 hours (average about 5) on my 1400mgzh AMD to convert to DVD-Video.

I am still using my computer normally during that time, so maybe it would be quicker if I just left it.

Steve.
