Question One for the mac guys

Angry, swiss, alex are you there?

Ok Ive just installed an airport extreme card in my powerbook. Install went fine, found the router, got an IP address, can ping other machines, everything hunky dory.

Setup internet connect to airport, good signal strength so should be away. However when I use IE or Safari it still insists on trying to use the internal modem, am I missing something?

Also what do I need so that I can browse folders on the LAN server (win2k) box?

cheers guys

Gary

Without being at my Mac now, I'm not 100% certain, but in the TCP/IP setup, you can determine whether it connects using Dial-up, or Ethernet/LAN.....

thx dano

found it now, it was network port configuration, change the order in which it connects to the net, dial-up was numero uno.

cheers

Glad u found it Gary.Quite simple as internal modem is always set as default in OSX, then Ethernet, then Airport, but as you discovered you can change the default order and delete ports if needed.

As for connecting to a W2k box, you need to tell me whether it is running W2k server or just plain desktop W2k, as they run slightly different.Post the details and i will post back how to browse the folders
