Hi,

What I need is a utility that can be run as a Windows command line that will automatically log into a Unix box and run a script on there, then logout.

Is this possible ?

I think you want a windows command line ssh client and set the ssh-keys up on the windows box with the 'nix public key.

That reads cr*p ... try something like this ...http://support.pa.msu.edu/help/faqs/...SSHPubKey.html

Thanks for the info Steve.

I had a read of the link, but not sure if it'll allow a script to be automatically run on the Unix machine, i.e, something along the lines of an automated playback script.

I'll explain the scenario I've got. We have a Gui client on Windows that logs onto a Unix server end product, and we have the potential to run single Windows exes or command lines, but only locally!

What is required is the ability, via a single Windows command line, to log onto the Unix server, run some 4GL scripts and then logback out again.


Does that make sense ?

Most "Host" Client suites will allow scripting of the client App. In a past life I've done it with Attachmate Extra! talking to both Unix & IBM.

Occasionally now I use the Telnet client from the Hummingbird exceed suite to do this. Its macro language is a VBA clone so you manipulate the telnet client to Connect to your host,logon, perform your required command and logout. I'm sure there are many others around aswell that allow similair things (its quite a common requirement).

You could kludge pretty much ANY telnet/shh client to do a repeatable set of commands using VBS and "SendKeys".

I'll have a little ticker with ssh and telnet client to get this working.
