Default [easy]MP3 and minidisc questions

...easy 'cos i know NOTHING of them ...1.Am i right in thinking that MP3 is a solid state recording system and therfore shock induced skipping is not an issue. 2.Does minidisc skip if severely provoked as the name would sugest it uses a disc(..hey! nowt gets past me... )
Are recordable minidisc players cheaper than an equivalant level MP3 recorder/player?
cheers...

Matty,

Yes you're right MP3 is solid state. MiniDisc 'can' be susceptible to shock but Ive had a couple (including one of the early ones) and *never* had a problem whilst out and about with them, they have have anti-shock features and Im pretty sure a short memory to overcome any potential problem.

Yes they are cheaper than MP3, depends what you want really, Ive got a netMD walkman which means I can drag and drop MP3 files onto it and they get converted on the fly to AAC audio and they now have long play mode which means you gan get 4 hours of audio on an 80min disc.

cheers

Gary

Remember also battery life. MP3 players don't have to drive a motor, so battery life is a lot longer.
