My DVDs are opening in Real Player atm 
dunno hiw it went to that but it did !
how do I change back? Know how to with XP but the laptop is running ME

Open My Computer. Then go to Tools > Folder options > File Types. Find the extension(s) appropriate for the DVD's and use the Opens With buttons to change.
