Unhappy Wiring up RJ45 faceplates?

Guys,

Dropped some wires down the wall from my loft into the front bedroom yesterday. I'm off to get a dual faceplate and some keystone jacks (RJ45 sockets) to present on the wall of the bedroom.

Now, wiring up the faceplate shouldn't be too hard as I think the jack terminals are colour coded, but I can't get my head around how to wire the other end. Basically, in the loft the wires are gonna be plugged into a switch, instead of being presented on a patch panel. Do I therefore wire the plugs on there with normal, straight-through plugs (to TIA 568B) or to crossover plugs (to TIA 568A) or to a third option altogether (as the wires *should* instead be wired to a patch panel or to another wall socket!). In the front bedroom I intend to plug computers into the wall socket using normal straight-through cables!

Any thoughts would be mucho appreciated.

Simon.

If you are wiring straight from the back of a socket into a switch then it should be straight, ie pin 1 from the socket to pin 1 on the RJ45.

Wire them into the switch as TIA 568B, and use straight though leads to the PC.
The switch does all the crossing.

pin 1 to 8 left to right..

bottom has tab on it when holding the cable in your hand looking at the plug..

1 white / orange
2 orange /white
3 white / green
4 blue / white
5 white / blue
6 green / white
7 white / brown
8 brown / white

depending on cable stds.. eia/tia568a / 568b..

get an end on each and youll get a x-over cable!

the other way has the orange and green pair swapped..

ie white green
green white
white /orange
blue/white
white blue
orange /white
white/brown
brown/white
