Question monitor problems

Hi there,

I'm having a problem trying to fix my friends computer up at the moment. Everything is plugged in and ready to go, but when you turn the pc on, the monitor stays in standyby mode and will just not start up at all!

Now when the monitor video cable is unplugged, the picture comes up with (NO SIGNAL) so i know the monitor works.

Now i can also hear the fan of the pc turn on when i switch it on but alas there is no apparent video signal driving the monitor.

Anyone know anything about this??

Thanks

Seems like it could be a problem with the graphics card. Make sure it is inserted properly.
Does the computer make any warning beeps when it is switched on ?

Agree with the above, most likely the gfx card, however;

Now i can also hear the fan of the pc turn on when i switch it on but alas there is no apparent video signal driving the monitor.
Confirm that the PC is actually firing up, things to look for are whether the num lock and caps lock keys work. There are many reasons (hardware faults) why a PC wont fire up.

You get the same if your processor isn't plugged in too (and yes, I did do that once )
