CD-ROM speed/noise control on laptop
Hi all
I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop running Windows XP home edition.
I'm sure I once found an option enabling the CD-ROM drive to be slowed down to reduce noise levels and improve battery life, or to allow it to run full speed for best performance. However, I can't find this option now!
Having just got the machine back from Dell for repair, they kindly but unnecessarily updated my BIOS to the latest version - could this have caused the option to disappear? (I also now can't find the option to display low resolutions pixel-for-pixel in the middle of the screen rather than stretching them, which always looks awful on an LCD IMHO). I kept the hard disc, so I know they can't have altered any settings on that.
Can anyone help please? It's a little thing but it's driving me nuts!
