Hi all hope somebody can help.. I have a compaq presairo 5000.. It is a couple of years old but still runs ok. I want to put a dvd burner in this but have been told that i need the computer to be atleast 1ghz.. I have found out what motherboard it uses(FIC AZ31 Motherboard) and it can take up to 1ghz. But is there any setup procedure for this or can it just be pluged in? There are no jumperlinks on the board when i looked...

Nick, yes you can just plug in the new processor - you may, however, need to adjust some settings in the BIOS (normally accessed by pressing F2 or Del immediately after switching the PC on. Make sure you buy the correct CPU for the Mobo ie don't buy Pentium when it only takes Athlon.

PC spec doesn't have to be 1gb
I've got an AMD Duron 750 with 128mb SDRAM that runs without problem with a Pioneer 106. I thought it might struggle to burn on-the-fly but it doesn't.
