OK, so I got myself this shiny new laptop running XP home. If I try to connect to the internet (dial up) it can take 20 or more attempts to get connected. It comes up with a 678 error message. It will usually connect eventually without me doing anything other than getting it to redial umpteen times. My old PC running 98SE doesn't have this problem so it doesn't seem to be an ISP problem.

Anyone able to shed any light on this before I chuck the damn 'puter through the window?

Thanks

G

Are you using the same ISP to connect as the one on yuo Win98 Machine?

Have you tried updating the Modem Driver? Will need to connect to the internet to download the latest from the Manafacturer's website.

Hope that helps..
