Wasn't aware NTL did a cable card

AFAIK they have two options - depending on which your local NTL Franchise uses. These are:
  • set-top box which provides the TV signal and also has an RJ45 socket for broadband;
  • or external cable modem which connects to the TV aerial cable (via a splitter) then connects to PC via RJ45 or USB.

same as fig says, although the set top box ones will give you the cable modem version, if you get lots of hassle both are either usb or rj45

Thanks for the replies.

So NTL set top boxes don't have viewing cards in like SKY boxes have?

Ours does but I couldn't tell you what type it was other than it's plastic and it slots in the left hand side at the front

I think the above people thought you meant a PC card that slots in a PCI slot or something, not the subscription type card that goes into the set top box.

I don't think I worded the question very well. It's the type of viewing card that I need info on, is it a gold card etc.

Cheers.

Just had a quick look (with missus' approval )

It's made by Nagravision, has a bar code on the back, and a smart chip thingy. Other than that it's white plastic with a big NTL logo on the top.
