Clock speed for amd athlon 2400+

Does anybody know the correct clock speed for this as it comes up as 1.49ghz and i thought it should be 2.0ghz also on start up it comes up as 1800+ but it all came in boxed sealed labeled as 2400+ with heatsink and fan please help.

Should be 2.0ghz with a multiplier of 15 x 133.
Check this in the BIOS

How do i change this in the bios what part it said to change settings in bios but could not find anything to do with it ?

hold down the DEL button during start up to access the BIOS.
go to the BIOS page with CPU info & depending on the BIOS type it should say the cpu speed ie 1800mhz.
Change this to 2000mhz. Check that the FSB speed is set to 133/266 & then exit saving changes.

Cheers Daz will have a look but will this change the fact that when i first start up PC ti says it is a 1800+ why would it say that when its a 2400 ?

As said above, just try changing the FSB speed to 133 first, save changes and restart. You'll probably find it's set to 100 at the moment.

Should come up 2400 when you restart.

Ok i have tried all that changed fsb to 133mhz and still on start up and in control panel under device manager says its a 1800+ and 1.49ghz you thinmk AMD could have wrong chip in box ?

sounds like a mistake when packaging.. take it back to the shop u got it from

Easy tiger . . . go remove the heatsink, wipe away the gloop and enter the code on the top here to find out if you have what you paid for.

It should be pretty clear from the code on the top. ie. AX2100DMT3C is a 2100 Athlon.

Question

Stupid question but I take it your motherboard supports this chip? Or at least the version of the bios you have does?

take out the chip and place it on a nearby workbench, remove your shoe and hit the chip repeatadly then place the peices back into your pc and try it then?

I tried the shoe thing that did not work so i took it all back to the shop i bought it from and low and behold when they installed the motherboard they set the jumper settings wrong i knew it could not be my fault lol cheers for all the help and ideas guys till next ime lol.
