I've just had XP put on my computer after it crashed big time and lost all my documents. I've got the internet (really) and incoming e-mails sorted but can't get the outgoing mail sorted. I've tried to make sure that all the info is correct regarding the "pop" information but am getting the error message
"Protocal SMTP, Port 25 Secure(882), No, Error number: 0x800CCC0F"

Can someone give me an idea as to what I may be doing wrong, please.

That's a disconnection error. Is your modem flaky / hanging up?

its a while since i used outlook but, it could be that you need to select my server requires authentication, and tick use same details as logon, similar to that anyway, was a common error when connecting to mail server, also did u install zone alarm? or a firewall? if so did u add the mail server as a trusted zone? also did u double check your pop settings? smtp and pop3 server name? just a few things to consider

I'd speak to your ISP then. It might be something to do with authentication. Difficult to say without being in front of your PC.

Thumbs up

Thanks guys, got it sorted now. In the ingoing and outgoing mail addresses i'd got "pop" in both boxes when the outgoing should have been SMTP.
