Just bought this machine

Xp Home
P4 3.06Ghz
1 year collect and return warranty
256MB DDR
80GB
128MB Geforce FX5200 with DVI, dual monitor support and TV-OUT
17" TFT
48x CD-RW

All for a tidy sum of £668.58

My company Dell business sales rep could get nowhere close on price, Dell actually are losing money on their sale in Janurary

[Edited to add above note about sales rep]

Darren

I have looked at loads all over the Dell website and this was the best PC for under £700 that does not include extras that he did not want (DVD writers, copy of office etc.) and did include the things that he did want (17" TFT, fast CPU, etc.)

He is well pleased, should arrive in about a week

Thumbs down

I bought a lappy from Dell just before Christmas to take advantage of Dutch government subsidies (50% paid by the govt ) and I have to say that their customer service around this time was totally shocking. Wasn't possible to reach them at all for almost a week.

Would not buy from Dell again, despite being completely satisfied with the product itself (Inspiron 5100).

Suresh,

I know some people have had a bad experience with Dell customer service, support etc. I sorry you feel this was because as you said, their products are rock solid.

I personally have used them for about 6 years with only one problem which did finally got solved and lots of free kit was received (for free) whilst trying to sort out the order (DLT tape drives, backup software, scsi cards)

You had it unlucky... They make the best computers in the world.. No one touches them on deals and I found them great if i needed something. I bought a computer for someone and the guy on the phone doubled the memory and upgraded the Hard drive size for free.

Dell all day long for me.
