Idiots guide to modding xbox - please!

I have heard quite a few people talking about chipping their xbox's, is this the best one to go for:

I am not bad with computers, but I don't like the sound of "Special Tool Design - Just 9 wires/pins to solder" I dont' even own a soldering iron, and I am not sure that I even want one!
I haven't used one since I was teenager at school, and I dont' remember being very good at it then! But I am setting up a network later in the week, so it would make sense to chip it.
These lot actually sell one completley modded, it's not cheap (£199), but I am quite a lazy person lol!

On a more serious note and now that i've baited him go for the 2.3 it is the best one 
but just use thepogo pin method don't need to be able to solder for that and as long as box stays in one place all will be well, if it does get knocked out of alignment just reseat, it's that simple

So you reckon that 23 is better than 23b, or 23b lite?
Also where do the switches go to disable it for xbox live? Do you have to modify the case?
I think I finally accepted that the chances of me doing all the plat on gr2 are fairly slim, so I am just gonna unlock the buggar once that I have fin gold. Bit lazy but I just love caining people on the ring

they can go in various places mines under the 1st control pad input with the remote sensor from the dvd kit blocking it of slightly coz the lights so damn bright just feed the wire through the breating hole on xbox before plugging it in at both ends

Go for the solder option - if you go for the "Header pin install" the soldering is really very easy. I got mine from www.baldbouncer.co.uk
