Hello

I'm off to San Francisco for work on Saturday and I'm looking to buy a Hard Drive and a DVD-Rewriter. However, looking at some websites (I used to buy stuff at "Frys"), America seems more expensive!

Does anyone have any cheap sites in the States that will either ship within a guaranteed period or are based in the Bay Area?

Thanks,

Steve.

Cool

go get yourself a copy of "Computer Shoppers" in the US with ALL the adverts. you can shop till ya drop!!! also check out www.ebuyer.com, www.compusa.com.

you might wanna checkout the local stores as they do crazy sales, like my friend got a Belkin wireless router (ok, so it's a 11b) for US$10. yes, it's not a typo! you get lots of cashback/rebate offers, so happy shopping!

p/s check out www.jandr.com as well for other goodies (like a 5.8GHz cordless fone - just dont tell the DTi about it )

Are you kidding. I buy most of my computer stuff from the US.
Mostly through Ebay. as long as you dont get stuffed with customs you can save a lot.

I recently bought a Retail 2.8ghz 800fsb P4 from a guy in the states for £100 brandnew (only opened to remove the heatsink).

That saved me about £100 over UK retail prices.

Best Buy: www.bestbuy.com (based in Minneapolis but stores all across the USA)
Circuit City: www.circuitcity.com

Make sure you have the Zip code for where you are in the bay area and then you can establish where the nearest store is. Can't comment on prices for components but are very good on laptops etc. Just make sure you know someone that lives locally so that you can apply for the store and manufacturer rebates (on the bigger items). Circuit City will match any Best Buy price and bisubversa.
